Replying to @. The spine dress was inspired by Roberto Cavalli’s dress Zendaya wore! It’s very fun and definitely taking its sweet time haha #skeletondress #fashion #3dprinting

I was first introduced to this by one of my closest friends @Asta Darling , who was showing me some popular cosplay tips and tricks that I should try. And she was RIGHT!! These hot glue filigree pieces are incredible, they are flexible, paintable and so far, durable. I can see why they are super popular to add to your outfits!! They do take a little practice and a LOT of glue, I think next time I’ll just stick with the cheaper clear stuff instead of repainting the gold. THERE IS SOME NUANCE: this is not always going to be the right choice for your projects. If you live in hot areas you already know how hot glue acts. Sees with hot lights? Same thing. Liquid latex is a great alternative to this, but you’ll want to make sure you find some with ammonia as that will bleach clothes over time! But if you’re out to just have fun crafting, this is a great project and a great way to spice up your booktok fits for this seasons balls! #fashion #sewing #BookTok #fantasyfashion #crafting

Do you want to wear a dress like Sabrina did at last night’s Grammys? Same. But the idea of taping it to hold it up is lowkey off putting, so what could you do instead? Illusion mesh! Thinner than power mesh and stronger than you think, this fabric is used in all kind of insane pieces and would be a great way to add structure and tension to a dress like Sabrina’s for a long term personal use! It makes sense why JW ANDERSON choose not to add it to the dress for the carpet, but if you wanted to make something like this at home-maybe for a dance or a drag show, you’re gonna need something a little stronger than body tape! Hope this helps! #grammys #sabrinacarpenter #diysewing #sewing

Replying to @Ope I got this file (‘the wearable spine’ by Davemakesstuff on thingiverse) for free and then fine-tuned it to what I needed it to be! I played around with scale and proportions! I know I wanted it more flat than a real spinal column (because it’s being sewn down to a garment not inside my body) and I knew I wanted it to be metallic and shiny! It’s been fun to make, and I can’t wait to finish it!! #3dprinting #spine #wearablefashion

A super common question: what stitches? I use a ton of them but these are my most common! There is no set rule of stitches for applieques-it all depends on what you’re sewing and what it’s being sewn onto! For me I use these three rhe most: the tie tack for flowers and rhinestones, the backstitch for close together beadwork and the running stitch for piecing together fabrics or for those neat chiffon waves! There are tons of great resources out there, including free paper sheets to ‘practice’ on! Happy handsewing! #sewing #fashion #handsewing

🚨 I do not take commissions!! 🚨 but there are plenty of creators who do. Understanding the cost of having a dress made for you, custom the cost can feel daunting. We have become so used to under valuing sewing as a skill (a conversation on sexism we can have at another time) that we don’t see the cost break down and the pricing that reflects that. Here I am talking about THIS dress in particular, at this size and shape. Things to consider: . 📍 if I made this again, I WOULD have to redraft a pattern in the persons size, so the time would remain the same 📍 6 yards is considered a ‘bulk’ purchase for that silk and it was already 10% less than a single yard price 📍 I am not including the cost of filament or machine time, but would have to include it in the future since it uses about half a roll of PLA 📍 my markup is much lower than the standard mark up should be. The rule of thumb is usually 100-400% we would put this dress anywhere from 2400-6800 USD 📍 learning to sew could be a great way to start a side business! Don’t let this discourage you from trying to start a business with sewing or crafting or wanting to take commissions. People are out there who want to pay these prices and are willing to do so!! Is it worth it? #costbreakdown

Did I botch this with the front?? I don’t think so! Though I would have made changes to the pattern if I knew now then, it still came out really beautiful despite my issues with bias cuts on the front. I love the fingers!! They really pique interest while the back is the show stopper! Would you wear this?? #spinedress #sewing #fashion #BookTok

Replying to @Jjjjjjj I really put lipstick on this dress just for the video 😭 Machine wash??? you wouldn’t throw this silk in a washing machine! Here are a series of steps and products I use to extend the life of my clothing! . Did you know that running your clothes through a washing machine on normal cycle and drying it on normal can actually wear out your fibers faster? Not to mention the polyester microplastic shed. That’s not to say washing machines are bad, but that you can help extend your clothing’s life span and help the environment by steaming clothes when you can! . Steam cleaning devices (like mine) can be an investment, but they can be a great way to refresh, disinfect and press clothes you don’t wear day after day (think special occasion or nice work clothes). Right now my baby lock steamer is on sale (being discontinued) and I can find it for under $100!!! . Grandma’s spot removal is GREAT for stains. A little goes a long way…i have never had a stain I haven’t been able to remove with it, so long as you take the time to really work at it!! Taking care of your clothes is a good thing not only for you but for your community and environment!! #fashiontiktok #Sustainability #washingclothes #laundrytok

3D printed fairy wing hair clips!!! Still working on perfecting them, but I sandwiched organza between the print layers and used a candle to burn the polyester edges away. I definitely think a neater way to clean it up would be with a soldering tool, so I’ll try that in the future in another color way!! #fairycore #fairyfashion

Long before I had a major social media presence, I came across Shorey Designs, whose incredible work with textiles and 3D prints has had me in a chokehold for years. It only took me 6 years later to get my first printer and test out designing and printing my own types of shapes for textiles. And oh what a blast it’s been! Making 3D printed geometric fabrics has been a dream come true, and what better way to pay homage to the new tech than to find inspiration from my favorite artist, Alexander McQueen, for his short stint with Givenchy (and yes, Zendaya did wear the red suit for dune!!) what kind of looks so you want to see with the 3D printer? #3dprinting #3dwearables #fantasyfashion #wearabletech
