Another thing that I really like about the plot of this movie, is just like in the real Star Wars series a lot of the characters are morally gray. And I feel like that’s something that doesn’t really happen in Barbie movies very often. Like the king owns up to his faults and understands how Barbie was right and he was wrong, but he doesn’t really have a redemption arch. He was just wrong and he seriously messed up and barbie fixed it. on a negative note though I don’t think the creators of this movie really knew exactly what metaphor they were trying to draw. So a lot of the metaphors that could’ve been really good got really muddy. He still flirts with the Royal Aunt character and that’s how he gets in and steals the magic. The whole finale can be basically the same. i also think the ken character is underutilized. like if Kiera and tori are separated for the ‘to be a princess’ song then let Ken, who already has a crush on the princess and is hip and present in the castle, let him sing the parts about being a princess while the villain sings the parts about being a popstar. They need to be more separated during that song I think.
