When I got married and became a mom, I poured my heart and soul into ensuring my husband’s happiness and giving my children the family life I’d always yearned for. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💖 But if I’m being honest, taking care of everyone else was a security blanket of sorts that I used to protect me from abandonment…only it didn’t work like I had hoped.😔 After decades of taking care of everyone else, I ended up abandoning myself. 💔 All my hopes and dreams revolved around my family and my role inside of that family. For years, I thought taking care of other people was my job. My hope was that if I took care of them,they’d return the favor and take care of me. But that never happened. People expected me to take care of them once I started that pattern. There were lots of reasons I didn’t take care of myself. Good people were selfless. Loving myself was out of the question. Selfish!
